Curriculum Implementation: How is our curriculum delivered?

At Newnham Infant and Nursery School, we use the following resources to support the teaching of the curriculum:

• The Early Years Foundation Stage for Nursery and Reception aged children

• The National Curriculum and Hillingdon RE Agreed Syllabus for Year 1 and Year 2 children

Our curriculum is also enhanced with opportunities to learn from:

• outdoor learning experiences in the school grounds and local area

• events in the community

• a wide variety of after school clubs

• visitors and workshops in school

• themed day and weeks

• organised educational visits

At Newnham Infant and Nursery School our curriculum is delivered through:

• An understanding of the key knowledge and skills needed in each curriculum area

• Knowing the progression of learning - what children have learned before and what they need to learn next

• Opportunities to revisit and deepen their learning

• Engaging topics which build on what children have learned before

• An inclusive environment where everyone is valued and has the same opportunities

• An environment which is nurturing and supportive

• Ensuring positive relationships exist between all members of the school community

• Providing the correct, rich vocabulary needed to support learning

• Learning which takes place inside and outside of the classroom
