Travelling to School
Travelling Safely to School
At Newnham Infant School, we encourage as many of our families to be active in their travel to school. This has many benefits including encouraging physical exercise, mental health and well being and a positive impact on the environment around us.
If you do have to use your car, we ask our families to use a voluntary one-way system - coming in from Sunningdale Avenue through to Woodlands Avenue. This arrangement is for the safety of everyone.
We would remind you not to park on the zig-zag lines nor on the corners of the road. Also, the private garages half way down Newnham Avenue are in constant use and parents are not permitted to park there. We would also ask you to have courtesy for our neighbours and not park across their driveways (in any road surrounding the school – Newnham Avenue, Sunningdale Avenue, Windermere Avenue or Woodlands Avenue). If you have a parking permit, also please ensure that you park considerately (including not parking in the middle of a two car bay!!) We appreciate your co-operation.
We also have a Park and Stride map that shows places available to park and walk to the school.
Every week, we have Walking Wednesdays, where we encourage as many of our children to walk, scoot or ride to school. We have scooter pods and bike sheds where items can be left whilst your child is at school.
