Year 1

Hello Year 1,

We have enjoyed welcoming the children back to school this week and hearing all about their week at home.

New home learning activities and the weekly spellings have now been uploaded. We hope you find some of these ideas useful.

Thank you

Miss Imane, Mrs Child, Mr Frape and Mr Woodman smiley

Spellings will be uploaded each week on a Friday and will be tested in school on a Friday. Common exception words will also be tested regularly, you will be notified of the dates.

Click on stars for ideas of how to support your child at home and weekly spellings.

We are limiting the number of items going from and to school so there will be no challenge books going home. Please refer to the home learning grid for some ideas of how to support your child at home. These should not be brought into school.

Parent Consultations

Please see the below documents that we were hoping to provide you with before the parent consultations this week prior to the school closure. Provided is a Year 1 information pack and handwriting guidelines.

Autumn Term 1

Your children have settled well. We have been learning how to write lists, captions and basic sentences. We have been finding one more and one less, ordering numbers and placing numbers on a number line. Creative work has been based around making colour monsters and images of ourselves.

How to Write the Perfect Sentence Poster

We have organised FREE access to book banded ebooks from Oxford Owl, Big Cat Collins and, from 7th June, Engage Literacy.

Happy reading!
